The Hilariously Random Sunday Night Gig
As we made our way to Monee Ponds while trying not to get lost we couldn’t help but wonder, “What the hell is this gig going to be like?”
It’s a freezing Sunday night, in the middle of winter and on the other side of the city.
After passing the venue and trying not to get lost as we turn down random deserted streets to try to do u-turns and over speed bumps that go down before they go up.
We finally found the venue and had to park 50 metres down the road.
Before lugging the equipment down the street we thought we’d go check out the place first. We walk into a one of the emptiest bars I have ever seen! Including myself, the guys, the bar tender and the acoustic set that was about to go on there would have been about 10 people max. (I was waiting for the tumbleweed to blow past our feet).
After finding out where we could put the gear we went to grab everything and the guys thought, “Stuff this we’ll just have fun”.
As Vixia (minus 1) started playing I saw two guys walk in the door, grab some drinks and start watching and then another two people come in and then a group of about 20 not quite sober guys come in and started buying drinks and chips by the truck load and yelling “PLAY SOMETHING WE KNOW!!!” and “GUNNERS!!!”
Ripley said, “We don’t know any Gunners, do you know The Beatles?” And I must say I was surprised when they all yelled, “YEAH!” Vixia then started playing “I saw her standing there” by The Beatles and I have to say I would of never thought I’d see people shuffling and doing the zomba to The Beatles. When Ripley sang “And she won’t dance with no other!” Two of them grabbed each one of my arms and sung the line as loud as they could while trying to dance with me (They were unsuccessful). Since the venue itself was quite small Loui, Ripley and Torren saw the whole thing and I looked up laughing so hard it almost hurt to all of them laughing at it themselves.
Things started to get a bit out of hand when they started picking up tables, throwing and standing on stools, “kung-fu” fighting with each other, fighting with the bar tender and claiming that they knew the owner who’s name was Danny (coincidence) and that he would allow them to do this. They then tried to get their point across by chanting his name as loud as they could. This was all while the Ripley, Torren and Loui were playing therefore they thought the guys were chanting my name (confusing!)
Anyway the bartender ended up calling a security guard in and before they were about to be kicked out, the drunkest of the lot decided he wanted to give Torren money, after unsuccessfully trying to throw it at Torren and his mate giving it back to him. This guy then believed that if he licked the $10 note it would stick to Torren’s face… he was wrong.
It was then time for the last song (an original) and as soon as Ripley announced it was the last song and that it would be an original there was a chorus of “HOW THE FUCK ARE WE SUPPOSED TO KNOW THAT SONG!” Ripley replies, “It’s so you know who we are!” “Who are you?” one replies as he stares drunkenly at the bass drum. “VIXIA!” Ripley announced. “WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!” he slurred.
As Vixia started playing “Away” the group of men decided they best leave because they figured no “Gunners” would be played and they were going to get kicked out anyway, so it was back to me and the few other people that were in the bar in the first place. After the gig we decided it was a pretty positive/ freaking hilarious night that had to be told.
That was the story of The Hilariously Random Sunday Night Gig.
THE END

Cherry Rock
Now I know that I've been a bit slack with writting blogs but I'm writing now so it's ok. =D
Anyway Cherry Rock was last Sunday and I have to say it was a new experience for me but a good one none the less. With amazing, weird (in a good way), full on acts it was quite the day/night out.
I'll talk about a few of the bands... Really the ones that caught my attention.
Six Foot Hick
These guys really caught my attention. Since I went to this gig without knowing any of the bands I was throwing myself into the deep end and I knew this. But when just before they came on my friend turns to me and says I hope the set themselves on fire again I knew I was in for something different to say the least. Now I'll add that no they did not set themselves on fire but they did do the following.... One of the singers crowd surfed and kissed the bassist of mammoth mammoth, kept throwing himself on the floor of the stage and throwing himself up again, then climbed up the bars of a window hung up-side down and thrashed around... Kinda surprised that he didn't end up with concussion at the end of the set.
Hell City Glamours
Pretty awesome I have to say... Spent most of the time covered in beer that was spat for the guitarist's mouth and having the lead singers plumbers crack in your face for most of the show they were pretty awesome.
Digger & The Pussycats
Now these guys were awesome. Two guys that have so much energy and talent they don't need anyone else in the band. They're songs are up beat and funny, not only that but they put on an awesome show that was very entertaining with drumsticks flying everywhere and the singer/guitarist throwing himself off the stage and playing in the crowd THEY WERE AWESOME!!!
The Datsuns
This is a band that should be bigger then what they are. With amazing energy these guys can put on a show. The one that really caught my eye was the lead guitarist/keys player who would swap instruments between songs and knew exactly what he was doing with each instrument. But he is a master of the guitar... His fingers were a blur as they moved seamlessly up and down the fret board. A real highlight of the day.
So I have to say the day was very fun and fore filling. Saw some amazing acts I'll be fans of for life.
'Till next time,
You all Rock!!!

VIXIA
Hey Everyone!!!
I am helping out a local band called VIXIA.
They're an Electro-Rock band with influences of Radiohead and Muse.
Their sound has been described as sounding like everything and nothing all at the same time.
They are just starting out together so they need all the support they can get.
Check 'em out:

Russel Brand
I saw Russell Brand last Friday and I have to say it was sooo funny but at the same time I had this feeling like should I be watching this?
He was rude and crude but once you got used to sitting next to a total stranger laughing at a guy on stage reenacting his sexual activities it was hilarious.
I have to say and I know most of you will be like haven't you seen his hair?
BUT he was quite feminine and in my point of view it might of been over done a little at some points.
What am I saying it's Russell Brand for crying out loud HIS ALWAYS OVER THE TOP!!!
All in all it was a good night we had great seats and the warm up act was great to (sorry really bad with remembering names).
Lots Of Laughs,
Danit.
P.s. I thought I posted this ages ago. Ggggrrrr...

SOUNDRELIEF
It was raining, it was freezing, IT WAS AMAZING!!!
The acts did NOT fail to impress.
My highlights were Crowded House, Hunters And Collectors, Split Endz and of course MIDNIGHT OIL!!!
They might have gotten on in years but I can tell you now they still got it.
Crowded House was a GREAT surprise.
I'm sorry I don't really know what to type.....
It was awesome, amazing, breath taking, rad.
How many words are there in the English language to discribe a mega rad day?
What I found ironic was that it was freezing and (excuse my french) peeing down with rain. There was so much rain let me just say we got more rain that morning then what we've had this year. AND..... IT PUT OUT ALL THE FIRES!!!!!
YAY!!!!!
I just found out that Sound Relief raised $5m for Bushfire Relief AND Flood Relief!!!!
WOO HOO!!!
I'd just like to say thanks to everyone involved, that helped and played!!!
YOU'RE ALL AWESOME!!!
Should have some pics up soon.
:D
YOU ALL ROCK!!!

PUSHOVER
For the first sentence I must say: IT WAS AWESOME!!!
Best acts were Kate-Miller Heidke and MAMMAL!!!
I've seen Kate before and she is just awesome she has an amazing voice and is hilarious. Her band is great and has quite the stage presence.
BUT!!!
Nothing that day topped MAMMAL!!!
I hadn't seen them live before (well maybe for about 3 seconds at Pushover 2007), hadn't heard their stuff either but my friends kept on raving on and on about them and there's also a lot of hype around them at the moment. So I was like why not?
They DID NOT fail to impress I can tell you that.
IT WAS MEGA RAD!!!
Great stage presences, amazing musicians, awesome performers, they can really connect with the audience which can be difficult for some bands but they seemed to do it with ease, the energy between the audience and the band seemed to feed off each other. Which made a RADSIK SHOW!!!
I have listened to their recorded stuff since and I have to say that they are much, much better live. Their style of music is quite mixed but mostly rock.
CHECK 'EM OUT!!!

THE HIVES STREET TEAM
If you are a Hives fan (like me) you'll love this!
The Hives street team is a great way to support the band, meet other Hives fans, get some awesome merch', find out exclusives and much more.
What you do for the street team is complete what they call "orders" which are tasks that can be done to help promote the band. E.g. Post a recruitment banner on your Myspace. IT'S AS EASY AS THAT!!! Each order is worth a certain number of points, these points help you climb higher in the ranks. The orders are also worth a certain number of store credits, these credits are what you buy merch' with.
It's pretty easy all you have to do is:

INTRODUCTION
Hey Everyone!!!
This is my first post on Blogger therefore I thought it would be approprite to introduce myself.
HI I'M DANIT!!!!
I live in Melbourne Australia (The Rock Capital of THE WORLD)!!!
So... Of course I love music (my favourite genre is of course Rock 'n' Roll) but I can listen to pretty much anything.
I love movies except for Horror (they feak the hell out of me, but I am trying to get over my fear).
I really want to work in the Music Industry for my future career, but I'm not quite sure exactly what part I want to work in, so I've started off studying the industy (which I think is a good place to start).
Anyway that will do for the introduction....
So how about I talk about what my blog will mostly be about...
It will pretty much be about things that interest me. E.g. reviews of new movies and music, exciting news, hot topics etc. etc.
I will add that I haven't really had a blog before except on Myspace and that wasn't really a blog... Well I didn't really post that many entries but I've decided that I should take it up since it's supposed the future of communication, plus I thought it would be fun because my friend does it and she seems to enjoy it.
Anyway stay tuned!!!
